A crooked nose is a deformity of the nose characterized by an asymmetry or curvature of the nasal bridge, nasal septum, or nasal tip. A crooked nose can lead to an uneven appearance of the face and usually also to difficulty breathing.
The crooked nose can be caused by genetic factors, including family predisposition. It can also be caused by injury or trauma to the nose, which can lead to curvature or asymmetry. Infections or inflammatory diseases, such as sinusitis or rheumatism, can also lead to a crooked nose.
A crooked nose often results in a number of symptoms. The most obvious symptom is an uneven or asymmetrical appearance of the nose. This can lead to a change in the facial profile and sometimes uneven placement of glasses or sunglasses. A crooked nose can also lead to breathing difficulties as it can block the flow of air through the nostrils. This can lead to sleep apnea or snoring, which can lead to an increased risk of cardiovascular disease.
Treatment for a crooked nose depends on the cause and severity of the deformity. Surgery is usually needed to correct the deformity and open the airway. Rhinoplasty, or nose job, may also be performed for cosmetic reasons to change the shape and size of the nose.
Very satisfied with the surgical result from nose surgeon Dr. Wilke.
I had the full program with nasal septum straightening, sinus surgery and narrowing and straightening of my external nose. I never thought that I would have such a great result after just 3 weeks. Thank you very much.

A crooked nose is a deformity of the nose characterized by asymmetry or curvature of the nasal bridge or tip.
A crooked nose can have various causes. A common cause is a congenital deformity of the nasal cartilage or the nasal septum. But injuries to the nose, such as broken noses or blows to the nose, can also lead to a crooked nose. In addition, chronic nasal infections or nasal polyps can also cause a crooked nose. An accurate diagnosis can only be made by an ENT doctor who examines the cause of the crooked nose and treats it accordingly.
The surgery to straighten a crooked nose is called rhinoplasty. The procedure can be performed for both cosmetic and medical reasons. During the procedure, the nose is reshaped to correct the crookedness and restore symmetry. It can also straighten the nasal septum and improve breathing.
A crooked nose can look different depending on the cause and extent of the crookedness. Often the nose is crooked and asymmetrical overall, with one side of the nose appearing larger or smaller than the other. A crooked nose tip can also cause the nose to look uneven or twisted. In some cases, a crooked nose can also cause the nostrils to be different sizes or one nostril to be more blocked than the other.
The patient should be in good physical condition and have no serious health problems that could increase the risk of the operation. Furthermore, a crooked nose correction can only be performed once the patient's face has fully grown. This is usually the case from the age of 16. Before the operation, the patient should be free of active infections of the nose or face to minimize the risk of complications. Two weeks before the operation, no medications such as Aspirin®, Diclofenac®, Ibuprofen®, and Voltaren® should be taken to minimize the risk of bleeding during the operation.
The length of a crooked nose rhinoplasty depends on various factors, such as the severity of the crookedness, the technique used and the extent of the procedure. However, a crooked nose rhinoplasty usually takes about 1 to 3 hours. After the operation, the patient will usually wear a nasal splint for a week and must be careful not to accidentally touch or bump the nose for a few days. Sports and physical activity should also be avoided for a few weeks. Most patients can return to work after 1 to 2 weeks, but final healing can take several months.
In order to create the best possible conditions for the operation, no medication such as Aspirin®, Diclofenac®, Ibuprofen®, and Voltaren® should be taken for 2 weeks before the operation. Smoking reduces blood flow to the small vessels that are important for wound healing, so we recommend stopping smoking during the healing phase. Good care of the nasal mucosa promotes healing both before and after the operation. We recommend starting nose care with ointments and oils one week before the operation. After the operation, you can start using a nasal douche to assist with cleaning.
The surgical correction of a crooked nose is performed under general anesthesia, so no pain is felt during the operation. After the operation, most patients have little to no pain.
The risks of a rhinoplasty for a crooked nose are low when performed by a rhinoplasty expert. Swelling and discoloration of the skin disappear after a few days. Post-operative bleeding is extremely rare and usually occurs in the first 24 hours - the time during which our patients are closely monitored in the clinic. Treatment is then possible without any problems. If the nose has already been operated on, there is an increased risk of bending and skin changes due to scar tissue and reduced stability.
The costs of a rhinoplasty for a crooked nose depend on the complexity of the operation and start at 6450 euros.
