In most cases, our patients' noses are too long or too large, and they desire a reduction. Rarely, they are bothered by a nose that is too small. While a snub nose is sometimes desirable for female patients, men are generally very bothered by the appearance, as it makes the face appear smaller and more feminine.

The nose grows throughout life, so snub noses are normal in childhood. Over the course of life, the tip of the nose sinks slightly and can deviate significantly from the ideal shape in advanced age. If a snub nose persists even after growth has been completed, or if a previous nose correction has made the nose too small, there may be a desire to have the snub nose corrected.
Anyone who is bothered by the shape of their nose and possibly also has trouble breathing through their nose can find a permanent solution with rhinoplasty.
This allows facial proportions to be optimized and a childlike appearance to be improved. In addition to a more confident appearance, improved nasal breathing will also improve quality of life.
To lengthen a nose, the nasal septum must be rebuilt and the position of the tip of the nose corrected. The aim is always to restore a stable nasal framework. If the cartilage framework of the nose has already been weakened by a previous operation and there is not enough tissue in the nose to extend it, cartilage from other regions of the body must be transplanted into the nose. The area of the auricle or a rib is used for this. The removal does not change the shape and function of the ears/ribs.
As with a rhinoplasty to reduce the size of the nose, a cast protects the nose after the operation. Packing is not necessary to correct a snub nose.
After rhinoplasty, you will feel relatively well. You can and should move. However, you should wait another six weeks before do any sports. Patients typically experience little to no pain after rhinoplasty. Depending on your profession, you may be able to return to work after a few days. The external splint will be removed after one week, and you will be able to socialize again after about two weeks.
The cost of a nose lengthening procedure depends heavily on the initial findings and the complexity of the surgery. The procedure is generally less complex if the nose hasn't been operated on before. Costs start at €6.450. If the procedure is a revision rhinoplasty that requires additional cartilage, for example, from the auricle or rib, the cost of the nose surgery will be higher.
I would like to thank Dr. Wilke very much for all the care he provided. Very few doctors perform a combination of cosmetic nose correction and sinus surgery.
From the professional consultation to the aftercare, I always felt in good hands. I had imagined everything to be much worse. I am very happy with the result.

A short nose is either congenital or the result of a nose job.
The distance from the origin of the nose between the eyes and the tip of the nose is disproportionately short. In many cases the tip is rotated too high.
If the nose is too short, the nasal septum must be lengthened and the tip of the nose rotated downwards.
If you are suffering and want an improvement, a nose that is too short can be lengthened by a rhinoplasty.
Depending on the complexity, the time required for an operation can vary from person to person. On average, correcting a snub nose takes about 2 hours and is performed under general anesthesia.
In order to make the conditions for the operation as optimal as possible, no medication such as Aspirin®, Diclofenac®, Ibuprofen®, and Voltaren® should be taken 2 weeks before the operation. Smoking reduces blood flow to the small vessels, which are important for wound healing, so we recommend stopping smoking during the healing phase. Good care of the nasal mucosa promotes healing both before and after the operation. We recommend starting nose care with ointments and oils one week before the operation. After the operation, a cast is applied, which is removed after a week. Tamponades are not necessary to correct a short nose. We recommend refraining from sport for 6 weeks. Glasses should not be worn during this time.
The lengthening of a nose that is too short is carried out under general anesthesia, so patients feel no pain. After the operation, pain is rare and often only minor.
The risks of surgery for a short nose are low when performed by a specialist in rhinoplasty. Swelling and discoloration of the skin disappear after a few days. Post-operative bleeding is extremely rare and usually occurs in the first 24 hours - the time during which our patients are intensively monitored in the clinic. Treatment is then possible without any problems. If the nose has already been operated on, there is an increased risk of bending and skin changes due to scar tissue and reduced stability.
The cost of an operation for a snub nose depends on the effort involved and starts at 6450euros.
