A tension nose is characterized by an enlarged cartilaginous part of the nose. The nasal septum in particular has grown too large and has "pulled" the remaining structures of the cartilaginous nose with it. The result is a rather narrow and raised bridge of the nose. In contrast to a humped nose, the tip of the nose is shaped differently and contributes significantly to impaired nasal breathing. It is not uncommon for the upper lip to be pulled upwards with clearly visible gums.
In addition to its external appearance, a tension nose always also entails a limitation in its function.
We take a lot of time for our patients when performing a rhinoplasty in our practice, because successful nose surgery requires the correct diagnosis and a detailed examination. This is the only way to create an individual surgical plan that can minimize many risks in advance. Preparation for the rhinoplasty, such as discussions and explanations, takes place on an outpatient basis in our practice. On the day of the operation, our patients are received in the clinic and cared for by our surgical team so that the operation can be carried out in a relaxed and calm atmosphere. We will also look after you after the operation and want to make your stay as pleasant as possible.
Patients can be discharged home the very next day after a nose correction, but physical rest is still required, as the important phase of wound healing begins after the operation and should proceed as undisturbed as possible.
Depending on the extent of the operation and individual predisposition, swelling and discoloration in the facial area may occur, which usually disappears after 2 weeks.
The external nasal splint is removed after 1 week. We do not generally use nasal packings that are placed in the nose.
Very good working methodThe anamnesis and treatment were very good. Even after the operation, a lot of time was taken to answer questions and give good tips for nose care.

Competent and pleasant doctorI had an aesthetic and medical nose operation done by Dr. Wilke and I am more than satisfied! Dr. Wilke is a very pleasant person who knows a lot about his work and I immediately felt at ease. I had very precise ideas about my "new" nose and Dr. Wilke took a lot of time to listen to everything and discuss with me what was possible and how he would approach it. Nurse Patricia is also super nice and very competent! 10/10

A tension nose is caused by increased growth of the cartilaginous structures, especially the nasal septum. The cause is usually genetic.
The tension nose is a complex shape variant of the nose in which different parts of the nose, especially the nasal septum, the nasal bridge and the nasal tip, have to be corrected.
Depending on the complexity, the time required for an operation can vary from individual to individual. On average, correcting a tension nose takes about 2 hours and is performed under general anesthesia.
To ensure that the nose correction of a tension nose proceeds optimally, no medication such as Aspirin®, Diclofenac®, Ibuprofen®, and Voltaren® should be taken 2 weeks before the operation. Smoking cigarettes reduces blood flow to the vessels, which are important for wound healing, so we recommend that you stop smoking during the healing phase. Good care of the nasal mucosa both before and after the operation promotes healing. We recommend starting nose care with ointments and oils one week before the operation. After the operation, an external cast is applied. After one week, this is removed together with the stitches on the bridge of the nose. Tampons are not necessary for a nose correction for a tension nose. We recommend that you refrain from sport for 6 weeks. You should also not wear glasses during this time.
Surgery for a tension nose is performed under general anesthesia, so patients feel no pain. After the operation, pain is rare and often only slight.
The risks of surgery for a tension nose are minimal when performed by a specialist in nose correction. Swelling and discoloration of the skin disappear after a few days. Post-operative bleeding is extremely rare and usually occurs in the first 24 hours - the time during which our patients are closely monitored in the clinic. Treatment is then possible without any problems. If the nose has already been operated on, there is an increased risk of bending and skin changes due to scar tissue and reduced stability.
The cost of an operation for a tension nose depends on the effort involved and starts at 6450 euros.
